Item Description
The Blade Master (the film's English title) is a 1982 Italian sword-and-sandal film directed by Joe D'Amato and starring Miles O'Keeffe and Lisa Foster. Offered here is 26-1/8x40" one-sheet poster size illustration board w/image area measuring 25x39" used for the film's one-sheet poster. Art is by self-trained painter and former graffiti artist Duncan Eagleson (whose career has included designing book covers as well as creating movie posters and comic book art, illustrating a single issue each of Vertigo's flagship titles - Shade, The Changing Man and Sandman - as well as provided art for the first movie poster design for A Nightmare On Elm Street, see previous lot). Acrylic original art w/airbrushing elements depicts O'Keefe and Foster in heroic poses. The nighttime bkg. features castle w/ominous face looming at upper left. Eagleson has signed his initials and added "83" date at lower left. Art paper bearing Eagleson's original art has been mounted to foamcore for display purposes and has strip of tape along top margin that attached acetate overlay (now detached) w/"the Blade Master" title logo mounted at lower right. Overlay has tape repair to 5" crack at center left. Illustration board/foamcore showc corner tip wear w/creases and scattered lt. soiling to blank margins. Art would make for an Exc. framed display. Comes w/Eagelson's preliminary original art on 15x20" Bainbridge Board w/image area measuring 11.5x18". Art differs slightly from finished design, w/slightly different poses, bkg. and more prominence to face at top left. Exc. Comes w/copy of the US one-sheet poster this art was created for (Eagleson's art was also published for the VHS release of the film).
