Item Description
1.5" long all metal w/bar pin on reverse. No maker. Hand etched on front of "banner" top is "Cincinnati Reds 1939." Attached by loop is baseball. Nice luster. Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection.

  The 1939 Reds were winners of the National League pennant with a regular season record of 97-57 under National Baseball Hall of Fame manager Bill McKechnie. This Cincinnati ball club was led by future Hall of Fame star catcher Ernie Lombardi, who was the NL MVP the previous season in 1938. The Reds would go on to lose the 1939 World Series to the mighty New York Yankees in four straight games.
