Item Description
1.25" dia. celluloid button. No maker. Spring pin holds 3" long ribbons as well as a pair of figural plaster-filled celluloid charms- pitcher winding up and catcher's mitt. Button maker repurposed a rwb patriotic theme button by placing a sticker over the front, covering all but the rim. This has printed text "Souvenir (SIC) World Series Cards vs. Yanks/St. Louis 1943." The Yankees beat the Cards 4-1, winning their tenth championship in 21 years. It was the Yankees manager Joe McCarthy's final Series win. Games 4 and 5 where played at Sportsman's Park in St. Louis, where this button was sold.  All shows trace of aging. VF. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
