Item Description
Large 20.75x24-7/8" mat contains photo print collage that has been professionally and attractively double-matted to 15x19.25." Released as part of a limited edition of 1,500 in 1991, photo collage shows historic sequence from Game 1 of the 1954 World Series (which saw the NL Champion New York Giants hosting the AL Champion Cleveland Indians), where the Giants won the game 5-2, due in part to "The Catch" made by Willie Mays in the 8th inning. The play was not only an extremely difficult over-the-back catch but has been replayed countless times over the years as one of the most iconic defensive plays in MLB history. Mays has boldly signed at center in silver paint pen. "464/1500" edition number has been hand-numbered at center right. Exc. and ready for framing. Comes w/COA signed by Jack Lang, Executive Secretary of the Baseball Writers' Association of America w/matching edition number and attached photo of Mays signing. Comes w/JSA LOA.

"The Say Hey Kid" is regarded as one of the greatest players ever, ranking second behind only Babe Ruth on most all-time lists, including those of The Sporting News and ESPN. Mays played in the NL between 1951 and 1973 for the New York/San Francisco Giants and New York Mets. Some of his many career achievements include being a 25-time All-Star, 12-time Gold Glove Winner, two-time MVP, 1951 Rookie Of The Year and 1954 World Series Champion.  Elected to the National Baseball HOF in 1979 and is currently the oldest living member.
