Item Description
10.75x21" cardboard sign has been taped at top edge to 14-5/8x24-7/8" double-mat. Sign features large "Lucky Strike Cigarette" logo w/painted portrait of tennis player Bill Tilden (1893-1953) w/"'I Smoke Luckies - They're 100% With Me." testimonial. Tilden endorsed Lucky Strike, and was featured in ads from the late 1920s into the 1930s. Sign shows obvious an heavy wear, w/.25" hole at top center, creases and edge tears, moderate corner tip wear/foxing, dust soiling and scattered age spotting. Sign has five pin holes. Just VG overall, but a rare sign in any condition.

Tilden, won 14 Major singles titles, including 10 Grand Slam events, one World Hard Court Championships and three professional majors. He was the first American man to win Wimbledon, taking the title in 1920. He also won a joint-record seven US Championships titles (shared w/Richard Sears and Bill Larned). Inducted into the International Tennis HOF in 1959.
