Item Description
11-1/8x16-1/8" DC Comics artboard has pen and ink original art for story page 7 of The Legend Of Wonder Woman #3, published by DC July 1986. Art is by Trina Robbins (1938-2024), a noted comic artist who was known for her work on the Underground Comix scene, co-producing It Ain't Me, Babe, the first comic book created entirely by women. She also co-founded the Wimmen's Comix Underground Comix anthology series. Robbins is also known for being Wonder Woman's first female artist, providing art for the four-issue The Legend Of Wonder Woman limited series, which paid homage to the character's Golden Age roots. Art features six panels, showing Wonder Woman imprisoned w/Steve Trevor arriving to rescue her. Bending the prison's bars, Wonder Woman breaks her chains and rescues herself before an Amazon guard spots them. Wonder Woman appears in all but last panel. Top margin has inked "WW Mini" title abbreviation, month of publication and issue number. Bottom margin has been signed by Robbins, who added "For John" personalization. Back has DC Comics copyright inkstamp. While portions of inking has aged to dark blue, art remains clean and Exc. Robbins' published comic art is highly sought after and her Wonder Woman pages rarely come up for auction.
