Item Description
Unlike Macy's pre-printed form letters, this letter pair is typed to a specific recipient. Both letters are addressed to Josef Kleinkauf; one from Deborah Knapp, one from R. Allan Fine. Jan. 9 letter discusses Superman co-creator Joe Shuster's visit to Superman Adventure at Macy's and five pieces of Superman original art he presented to the store, including large Superman sketch for in front of Macy's. Jan. 24 letter is marked "Confidential" and sender complains about how the Superman/Macy's promotion is progressing, noting any attempt at forbidding his children from reading comic book would be futile. Matching letterhead design includes full figure image of Superman and "S" symbol and lists three sponsors. First letter has horizontal fold at center w/paper clip impression at top left. VF. Second letter has been folded as mailed and has paperclip impression at top left w/3/8" slice to paper. Fine/VF. Danny Fuchs Collection.
