Item Description
12x16" pressbook w/16 pages for original release of the 1948 Columbia movie serial starring Kirk Alyn as Superman. Pressbook features marketing material, including "Super-Advertising" section of movie posters, lobby displays and various ad mats. Newspaper style publicity articles feature photos from the film as well as sections devoted to characters including Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen and serial's villain Atom Man (aka Lex Luthor). A theater "Superman Club Card" is shown in addition to Superman merchandise including suspenders, belt, wallet, socks, sweatshirt, trading cards and Fo-Lee gum. A special "Atom Man Vs. Superman" six panel comic strip advertises the serial on next to last page. Rare promotional items shown include a 3x9' colored valance as well as three and six-sheet movie posters. Pressbook shows some handling wear w/pinch creases to spine, which has slight roll. Lower left corner has some creases w/.75" spine split at top and 2.5" split at bottom.
