Item Description
Stamp Day For Superman is a 1954 short film starring George Reeves as Superman and Noel Neill as Lois Lane. Produced by Superman Inc. for the US Department of the Treasury to promote the purchase of US Savings Bonds, it was never shown theatrically, instead being distributed to schools as a means of educating children about the program. Offered here is 7-1/8x10-3/8x" glossy folder w/image of Superman passing out savings bonds, surrounded by school children. Art is very similar to that provided by Superman comic artist Wayne Boring for the iconic "Help Keep Your School All American!" poster issued in 1950. This folder was issued in 1954 and opens to show three scenes from the film as well as promotional text regarding the short film. Back cover has additional text regarding the program and "Request For Loan Of 16mm Print Of 'Stamp Day For Superman'" section to be filled out. This remains unused. Folder is evenly aged and shows moderate edge wear w/corner foxing and number of small edge tears/chips. Fine overall. Very rare and one of just two known to us. Danny Fuchs Collection.
