Item Description
12.25x15.25" glossy stock board mounted to 12.25x16" has 9.5x12.5" image area for cover art to Dale Evans Comics #3, published by Dell, Jan./Feb. 1949. Main image is photo image of Dale Evans holding up large steak while detailed bkg. elements have been painted in gouache by Arnold Holeywell (1923-2010). Art has taped slip at left w/handwritten details pertaining to printing job. Art has number of printer registrations tabs attached to perimeter (w/aged strips of tape/masking tape) and entire art area is under thin acetate sheet, which has large split at top center. Bottom margin has inked note identifying Holeywell as bkg. artist. A few pin holes across top printer registration tabs and at bottom. Board has loosened slightly from board (which has printer label on back) and image area has some scattered age spotting at top right. Fine overall, but image area remains clean and would make for VF framed display. Comes w/reading copy of the comic this cover art was created for.
