Item Description
13.25x16" glossy stock board has 9x11.5" image area for cover art to Gene Autry Comics #78, published by Dell, Aug. 1953. Main image is photo image of Gene Autry repairing barb wire fence while bkg. elements have been painted in gouache by Arnold Holeywell (1923-2010). Art has taped slip at right w/handwritten details pertaining to printing job. Art has number of printer registrations tabs attached to perimeter (w/aged strips of tape) and entire art area is under thin acetate sheet, which shows moderate wear. Top margin has inked note identifying Holeywell as bkg. artist. A few pin holes across top printer registration tabs. Back of board has all over glue staining as once mounted. Fine overall, but image area remains clean and would make for Exc. framed display.
