Item Description
PLEASE NOTE - RING CONDITION IS AS DESCRIBED. WHAT YOU SEE IN OUR PHOTO (ESPECIALLY IF ENLARGED) IS NOT WHAT IS SEEN BY THE NAKED EYE. THE HIGH QUALITY OF THE PHOTOGRAPHIC IMAGE AMPLIFIES EVEN THE MOST MINOR IMPERFECTION. LOOKING AT THE ITEM IN PERSON AND UNDER NORMAL VIEWING CONDITIONS, LITTLE TO NONE OF THIS IS EVIDENT. WHEN WE GIVE A RING LIKE THIS A HIGH GRADE, THAT IS THE ACCURATE GRADE AND A MORE TRUE ACCOUNT OF THE ITEM AS SEEN IN THE CATALOG PHOTO.
Captain Video premiered on the Dumont network June, 1949 and was television's first venture into the solar system, beating Buck Rogers by a year. This is not only a first offered variant but also the first Secret Seal ring we've offered in our 57 years w/its mailer box and instruction folder. The box carries the Power House candy mailing label. Box has edge wear w/some indents/creases. Fine. The combination "Identification Card" and order form for additional rings is on stiff paper, 4x7" fully open. Folded as issued but unused and Exc. What makes this a new variant is that the ring top as well as the center "CV" plate are both in brass luster, NOT a combination of copper and brass lusters (see these two versions in the next lot). The bottom edge of the "CV" piece has a tiny brass stem that joins it to the ring base. A piece of paper can be slipped under the "CV" disc and then the hinged metal pressed down thus pressing the "CV" seal into the paper. Because the stem holding the piece is so thin and fixed into position, most quickly broke off this top cover and most examples of the ring, while they may look complete, are w/o this upper slightly moveable piece. Adjustable bands. Underside had individual member's serial number of "00035850". Tiny trace of wear but near full luster and Exc. An exceptional premium ring rarity. Robert M Overstreet Collection
