Item Description
Only example known to Hake's. 1.5" dia. Front has baseball design and at center of this is full figure action pose of Cobb in his Detroit Tigers uniform w/left gloved hand raised high in the air to snag an oncoming baseball. A similar image can be found on both the 1913-15 Pinkerton Postcard as well as the rare 1911 T5 Pinkerton Cabinet and this fob would seem to date from this same time period. Text reads "Henry & Cornett Sporting Goods Co./Play Ball." This was a Los Angeles store. Reverse is blank. Rim curl has maker, Bastian Bros. Co of Rochester, NY. Moderate all over wear and aging. Reverse has name and number scratched into the surface but mostly only seen in reflected light. Front has scattered surface wear, again mostly only seen in reflected light. Some age toning at opening. All remains glossy and both image and text are bold and distinct. VG. Cobb was one of five inaugural members of the first National Baseball Hall of Fame class of 1936. A true rarity for the Cobb collector.
