In 1935 and 1936 "Buck Rogers - Wilma Deering" school bags were available to purchase in stores and as premiums from the Cream of Wheat company. Offered here is the 1935 release, 9.5" tall by 12.5" wide and featuring blue/white head and shoulders profiles of Wilma and Buck at bottom corners w/red/white rocketship/planet graphics at top corners. "Buck Rogers - Wilma Deering" text on front pocket is red (the 1936 release featured more detailed, three color head only portraits of Buck and Wilma w/detailed, three color graphics of different rocketship and Daisy gun; pocket text was orange). Canvas bag has leather-wrapped handle, leather straps and metal buckles. Top portion of flap has canvas pencil pocket (which was changed to leather pocket for 1936 release). Bag shows obvious wear to edges, not affecting images of Buck or Wilma or text. Heavy wear to handle. Back of bag has 1.5" split to canvas. VG/Fine overall, but images remains strong. Both 1935 and 1936 bags are rare, but this earlier example is the rarest of the two and we have only offered a couple in our 57 years. Gene Seger Buck Rogers Collection.
