Item Description
The only Play Ball card set printed in color during the 1939-41 period, the 1941 series consists of 72 cards, which measure 2.5x3-1/8". R336. Many of the images used are colorized versions of the 1940 bw images. Card #'s 49-72 are considered high-numbers and are scarcer than the rest of the set. Reese was a key figure in Brooklyn Dodgers baseball history, starring at shortstop for the ball club throughout the 1940s and 1950s and was one of the first teammates to welcome Jackie Robinson during his 1947 debut season. Reese was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1984. Bold and well placed signature. PSA/DNA pop report indicates that this is one of only seven graded at this level with only eight other signed cards graded higher.
