Item Description
1945 premium from Carey's Salt comes w/complete paperwork as issued. Original mailing envelope w/typed recipient name/address bears The Carey Salt Company return address and shows small illustration of two different packages of Carey's Salt. Envelope shows moderate handling wear w/.75" tear at bottom. Postage label has loosened significantly. VG. 8.5x10-7/8" typed letter on Carey letterhead notes enclosed "'Shadow' Magic Ring" and accompanying "How You Get Salt!" folder as well as mentioning offer for "Nothing But The Truth" book of "Strange But True Stories" that was available for free (w/5¢ mailing fee). Letter has been folded as mailed and has .25" split along fold line at center right. Fine overall. Letter is rare and just one of a few known examples. 3-1/8x6" folder that opens to 6x12.25" is Exc. Ring is made of luminescent, glow-in-the-dark plastic that still glows brightly after light exposure. Features figural crocodiles as each band, w/their jaws spread wide open towards the ring top, which supports a black oval plastic stone (same design was used for Buck Rogers and Jack Armstrong rings which can also be found in this auction). Ring is NM and about as nice as these come. This Carey's Salt ring is infinitely rarer than The Shadow Blue Coal ring. A rare opportunity to obtain a complete as issued ring and paperwork. Robert M.
