Item Description
Original mailer box w/typed "Popsicle Pete" recipient name/address label contains 1952 Popsicle premium ring for Major Mars (but issued in 1955 as noted by postage strip on box). Box has some wear as mailed w/creases to side panel. Missing portion of label on right flap as opened. Box is Fine. 2.5x3.5" instruction folder has three panels and features detailed illustrated list of the ring parts and their uses as well as order blank for additional rings and four extra negatives and 24 squares of picture printing paper. Some creases and small edge tears as folded within box, but Fine overall. Hard plastic ring features same design as previous lot, w/three-dimensional rocket-shaped top, complete w/keychain, as was designed w/"Crystal Clear Intensifier, Supersonic Whistle, Luminous Astro-Navigation Map, Secret Compartment". Tiny map showing constellation Polaris star inside ring top still glows brightly in the dark. .25" scratch to surface of viewing "window." Rocket fits on yellow base to form ring but would need glued (as many did back in the day) in order to stay in position. VF overall. Ring is 100% complete as ordered and comes w/uncut four-panel bw filmstrips w/images titled "Major Mars, The Venutians, F80 Shooting Star, Flying Wing" plus additional filmstrip w/different scenes titled "On The Moon, Major Mars' Rocket Ship, F 84 Thunderjet, A Direct Hit" that were obtained via order form. One filmstrip has bend, but o/w Exc. to NM. Also included is opened envelope w/generic squares of light-sensitive paper to "Print" the images via sunlight exposure. Issued w/12, there are eight in one uncut strip, 10 in another uncut strip w/two loose squares for eight additional squares. Paper is no longer light sensitive. Envelope has torn top as opened w/split along left but all text remains. Good/VG. Rare as boxed and complete, even more so w/extra contents as offered here. Robert M. Overstreet Collection.
