Item Description
10.5x13.5" thin cardboard sign features classic, full body image of Superman in flight above his name/comic book logo w/"See It! The Thrill Of The Year! Paramount's Amazing Technicolor Cartoon," promoting the series of 17 animated Technicolor cartoons produced by Fleischer Studios and released by Paramount Pictures. These cartoons marked Superman's first animated appearance. The pilot and first eight shorts were produced by Fleischer from 1941 to 1942, w/the final eight being produced by Famous Studios (a successor company to Fleischer) from 1942 to 1943. This sign dates to 1942 and has small Superman, Inc. copyright below Superman image. Shown in Harry Matetsky's The Adventures Of Superman Collecting book. Sign shows aging w/more moderate aging along right which has four sets of staple holes along margin. Some lt. scattered edge/corner tip wear and back has some unrelated inking (which does not show on front). Fine overall w/strong color. Rare promotional piece for these classic Superman cartoons, this being just the second example we've offered in our 57 years.
