Item Description
14.5x22-3/8" artboard has pen and ink original art by Jim Mooney (1919-2008), best known for his long tenure as the signature artist of Supergirl, as well as a Marvel Comics inker and Spider-Man artist during the period fans and historians call the Silver Age of comic books. Offered here is the original art for page 19 of Action Comics #199, published by DC Comics in Dec. 1954. Seven panel page is from page 5 of "The Interplanetary Bank" Tommy Tomorrow backup story and first four panels show Tommy Tomorrow saving "First Planetary" bank spaceship from ice meteor while last three panels show him discovering a gold theft at the bank. Top margin has printed DC/title pasted stat w/inked issue/page numbers as well as publication date. Margins have some scattered inked editorial notations. Back has preliminary pencil art from an apparently unrelated story. Some small, cartoony figures have been inked. Artboard shows corner tip wear w/more obvious wear at upper left. Scattered aging. Fine overall, but art remains clean and could matted for nice display.
