Item Description
11x17" on cardboard. Designed so that the "Place" "Date" and "Admission" for the concert could be hand printed. Additional text "Writer And Singer Of The Nationally Famous Hit Song- 'Move It On Over'" at top and "Stars Of M.G.M. Records" at bottom. Features a photo of The Drifting Cowboys w/the famous country western singer and his wife, Miss Audrey at center. Age toning at margins, minimal edge wear, corner bumps and upper left corner bite. VF. One of only three poster designs known that picture Williams. This was likely printed by Leon Johnson Printers. Johnson worked w/Williams during the early stages of his career printing song books that Williams sold and continued producing much of the concert promotional material for the group in the late 1940s. "Move It On Over" was Williams first major hit reaching #4 on the Billboard Country chart in 1947. Concert pieces for Williams are extremely rare and this particular item dates from the height of his creative output. Williams life and music continue to fascinate scholars and music lovers the world over and authentic concert pieces are infrequently offered in commerce. A special opportunity to obtain an outstanding artifact related to an icon of not only the Country & Western genre but of the totality of American music.
