Item Description
Original shipping box contains 11" tall exquisite figurine on wooden base. Issued in 1994 by Another Rainbow through Connoisseur of Malvern, a British porcelain figurine studio whose works grace Buckingham Palace and The White House, this is the third in Another Rainbow's series of Carl Barks figurines. Rendered in fine bone china, Scrooge stands atop pile of coins and cash w/money bag at his right, holding tools he used to gain his first million - a pick and shovel. Each coin has details including stamped shields, eagle or laurel boughs. Dollar bills read "City Of Duckburg - Cool Cash - One Hundred Quackers." Coins have pure silver and 24 karat gold fired onto the porcelain. Large money bag has been hand-signed in gold by Carl Barks (1901-2000) just before the final firing. This Artist's Proof has been hand-numbered "AP V" on back of money bag, noting it as part of a limited edition of 100 produced. The regular limited editions also came w/a lithograph print whereas the A/Ps did not. Of the 100 production pieces, only 62 remain, 38 having been destroyed in an arranged agreement between Another Rainbow and The Walt Disney Company. Disney oversaw the destruction of these items. Scrooge's wire rim spectacles loose but included and stay in place for display. Statue suffered a break at wrist seam and handle of shovel at bottom of hand. Professionally reinforced inside and restored to its previous state. Displays as Exc. Comes w/"Carl Barks And The Disney Ducks" book published by Another Rainbow which has matching edition number on bound-in COA. Shipping box (complete w/foam packing) bears matching edition number on paper on top of box. Of the limited surviving examples, this smaller run of A/Ps are even more desirable.
