Item Description
10-5/8x15-7/8" artboard has pen and ink original art for title splash first page of Weird Worlds #8, published by DC Comics Dec. 1973. Issue features Iron-Wolf story w/art by Howard Chaykin. Page features full page splash panel, showing Lord Ironwolf (in his debut appearance) slapping small flying drone out of the air in anger, declaring that he will not share his technology w/the Empress Erika Klein-Hernandez's new alien allies. Art has 7/8x4.5" piece of artboard that has been applied to the backside and leg of the Empress, w/updated original art that included a clearer view of another drone as published. Glue has since dried but piece remains attached at top w/tape, allowing for viewing of initial original art, which showed drone blocked by her leg. This area has aging from the glue. Chaykin has signed in black felt tip pen at lower right. Top margin has aged piece of white tape w/handwritten title and issue number on black ink. Bottom margin has publishing indicia taped in place. Thin strip of aged tape at top/bottom and left/right center margins. Back has DC copyright and Comic Code Authority inkstamps w/aged masking tape/tape staining around majority of border margin. Art has some aging along right, but is o/w clean and VF and would display nicely if matted and framed.
