Item Description
10.75x15.75" artboard features pen and ink/white ink original art for first page of The Scorpion #2, published by Alas-Seaboard May 1975. Art is by Howard Chaykin and this issue featured four inkers - Michael Wm. Kaluta, Walt Simonson, Bernie Wrightson and Ed Davis. Page features six panels and shows the titular character (in his secret identity as Moro Frost) meeting w/woman to discuss a potential case before his senses are alerted to approaching danger in last panel. Frost/Scorpion appears in every panel. Last panel has even moderate aging to sheet bearing corrected original art that was applied to artboard. Chaykin has signed in black felt tip pen at bottom of fourth panel. Top margin has "Scorpion" title, issue/page numbers and month of publication in black felt tip pen. Bottom has aged publishing indicia stat applied. Back has strip of tape staining around entire margin edge, not affecting front's display. Thin strip of tape staining to top/bottom center margins. First panel has some even lt. aging, but o/w art remains clean and Exc. One of just three issues The Scorpion creator Chaykin produced before leaving the title, citing lack of control over his creation.
