Item Description
13" tall classic doll by Ideal Novelty & Toy Co. 1940. Movable head and upper body are composition while rest is wood-jointed. Complete and all original w/original red fabric cape, now faded. Aside from the original staples connecting cape to body being replaced by tacks and some glue on sides of head, figure has o/w not had any other touch-ups or restoration of any kind. Face and hair have scattered hairlines, largest being across cheek, but all remains firmly intact. Upper body remains glossy and displays full equilateral triangle chest decal. Upper torso shows just lt. scattered wear w/a few spots of missing paint and some surface crazing to back of neck by collar w/1.5" surface stressline running vertically under one arm. Belt decal shows little to no wear and copyright text on back remains nearly complete. Wooden segments of arms and legs show just trace aging/wear. VG/Fine overall. Doll can be posed for upright display but would benefit from being restrung. The very first Superman figure and a nice example as is or a candidate for minor restoration if you so choose.
