Item Description
Each is 1.25". Produced and distributed by Ward's bakeries, who also issued the widely popular 1947 Tip Top Bread cards. "Sporties" was a food product and "Eats" endorsement notation appears below each player portrait. Set includes National Baseball Hall Of Fame members: Dizzy Dean, Jimmie Foxx, Frank Frisch and Charlie Gehringer in addition to Jimmy Dykes, Charlie Grimm, Schoolboy Rowe and Jimmie Wilson. Some traces of oxidation to metal backs. Fronts have lt. scattered wear mostly only seen upon close inspection and/or in reflected light. All remain bright and glossy. VF to Exc. All are scarce to rare and even rarer to be offered as as set. Early career image of Dean is the key button in the set.
