Item Description
10.5x15-5/8" artboard has pen and ink original art by Jack Kirby (1917-1994). Offered here is the original art for page 4 of Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #141, published by DC Comics in Sept. 1971. Art was inked by frequent Kirby collaborator Vince Colletta (1923-1991). Four panel page is from "Will The Real Don Rickles Panic?" story by Jack Kirby that sees Clark Kent abducted by a UFO, which is intercepted by the New God Lightray on its way to Darkseid on Apokolips. This interaction is especially noteworthy as it is the first time Clark Kent/Superman interacts w/one of the New Gods (outside of the Forever People earlier that same year). Clark Kent appears in first three panels while Lightray appears in last two, w/Kirby's faded signature below Lightray in last panel. Top margin has stamped "Jimmy Olsen" title and inked issue/page numbers and month of publication. Back has DC copyright inkstamp and Jack Kirby permission inkstamp as well as aged masking tape staining/remnants at corners. Artboard has aged as framed over the years, w/slightly lighter margins, but o/w art remains clean and VF.
