Item Description
The Red Man Tobacco baseball card sets issued between 1952-55 were the first nationally distributed tobacco advertising cards since the early days of the 20th century. The 50 card set released in 1955 measures 3.5x4" and included 25 ballplayers from each league. Card fronts feature full color portraits. Advertising back denotes promotions being offered by Red Man.
Nelson Fox began his Major League career in 1949 with the Philadelphia Athletics as a speedy defensive-minded second baseman. From 1950-63, Fox would vastly improve his hitting while starring for the Chicago White Sox, leading the American League in base hits on four different occasions. Fox would finish his career with a batting average of .288 along with 1,279 runs scored and 790 RBI's. Fox was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997. Autograph is well placed and does not impede the primary image. This signed copy is one of only two ever graded by PSA.
