Item Description
"The Grasshopper And The Ants" originally appeared in the April 1934 issue of Good Housekeeping. Walt Disney, in arrangement with Good Housekeeping, produced the one-page adaptations from 1934-1944 to promote their animated shorts. This is detailed in the book "Walt Disney's Mickey And The Gang - Classic Stories In Verse" by Gemstone Publishing. The beautiful, fully-painted art has titles "Walt Disney Silly Symphony - The Grasshopper And The Ants." Art is done in 4 panels and features the Grasshopper, Ants and Ant Queen. Art comes in attractive gold wood frame with plexiglass cover, overall size is 25x31.5". First panel of art depicts Grasshopper playing violin and relaxing while Ants busily collect food. Second panel shows a freezing and crying Grasshopper trudging through snow. Third panel shows the Ant colony coming to his aid and the last panel shows the Grasshopper playing violin as Ants prepare feast. Displays Exc. as framed, ready for display. Easily the "holy grail" of these magnificent pieces, this is the very first Disney Good Housekeeping page and is complete with masthead design that was altered prior to original publication. Unique and historic. See following two items #1419-1420.
