Item Description
See previous item #1418 and following item #1420. Mickey's magic hat originally appeared in the July 1935 issue of Good Housekeeping. Beautiful fully-painted art is unique among the Good Housekeeping series, as page was based on a cartoon still in development at the time that would eventually end up being released as 2 separate animated shorts. "Mickey's Vaudeville Show" was to have featured Mickey, Donald, Pluto and a magic hat but ended up being divided into "Mickey's Grand Opera" (1936) with Pluto as the primary victim of the magic; and "Magician Mickey" (1937) with Donald and no sight of Pluto. "Mickey's Magic Hat" art not only carries a title that neither finished animated short ever had, but features all the long-billed Donald Duck images that any Donald fan could ever want. Fantastic imagery with Mickey performing magic including card tricks and producing rabbits, doves and tree from magic hat as well as several small Donald Ducks. Great shot of an ill Donald Duck sitting beside a bottle of Castor Oil with a block of ice tied about his head. Art comes in an attractive gold wood frame with plexiglass cover, overall size is 25x31.5". Displays Exc. as framed, ready for display. Unique and beautifully illustrated.
