Item Description
Lot consists of 13 hand-crafted spaceships, satellites, power station, etc. Made in the 1940s for Buck Rogers artist Rick Yager, an assisstant to Buck Rogers first comic strip artists Dick Calkins and Russell Keaton in 1932. Yager took over the Buck Rogers daily strip c. 1940. Models were made by Wilbur Rath. Lot includes 10 spaceships ranging in size from 6.75" to 19" long. 9" dia. space satellite. 3-5/8x14x10" tall power station. All are made of wood and various other materials, painted as a guide for the artists. Most models have a small paper attached on underside with code name typed. Some names include: Valaron, Doradan, Tetra, Monoceron, Tucana, Arcturus, Taygeta, Celaeno and Sterope. Each has a different code. Detailed and painstakingly crafted, models have had some repairs and some show wear. Fine overall. Nice set with great insight into the Buck Rogers artists creative process.
