Item Description
"On Ice" originally appeared in the Nov., 1935 issue of Good Housekeeping. Walt Disney, in arrangement with Good Housekeeping, produced the 1-page adaptations from 1934-1944 to promote their animated shorts. This is detailed in the book "Walt Disney's Mickey And The Gang - Classic Stories In Verse" by Gemstone Publishing. The beautiful, fully-painted art has titles "Walt Disney's Mickey Mouse In 'On Ice'." Art is done in 3 panels and features the classic Disney gang of Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Pluto and Goofy (Though Goofy debuted his more modern look in the cartoon version of this story, the Good Housekeeping staff rendered him in his Dippy Dawg appearance). Art comes in attractive gold wood frame with plexiglas cover, overall size is 25x31.5". First panel of art depicts Mickey and the gang ice-skating, Mickey hurrying to place a pillow under Minnie's falling bottom. Second panel shows Pluto on ice skates, struggling to stay on his feet. Third panel shows Goofy ice-fishing, Goofy turning Donald on spit (thawing him out as Donald is encased in a block of ice) as Mickey drops off more wood for the fire. Displays Exc. as framed, ready for display. Unique and a classic grouping of the Disney gang. See following item #1429.
