Auction #197 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 991 in auction 197
Item Description
This unlisted and first we've seen badge is both exceptionally clever and rare. The brass shell eagle with enamel paint flag accents is 1.5" wide by 1.5" tall plus a (replaced) length of 12" rubber tubing. The center of the piece has a cardboard photo with just trivial traces of wear shown under magnification. When the tube end is blown into, the eagle's beak (which is on a tiny hinge) opens up and vibrates a bit and then closes when the air stream ceases. The more forceful the airstream, the wider the beak opens. While the air flows, a quite loud high-pitched whistle is produced. The reverse of the piece has a horizontal bar pin plus a vertical metal tube that directs the air beneath a small brass plate on the back of the eagle's head to produce the sound and movement. One flag has pinpoint paint dot off and both have trivial darkening of the white flag stripes. Overall extremely Fine and the only example known to us.
