Item Description

**NOT AS DESCRIBED IN CATALOG - NEW INFORMATION - PLEASE READ**

17.25x20.75" frame contains original pencil art that has been matted to 10x13.5". Art is believed to be a pencil study for a finished piece commissioned by noted Tarzan authority Russ Cochran for an illustrated edition of "Tarzan Of The Apes" that never saw print. Art was done by prolific and renowned comic artist/illustrator Frank Frazetta, whose Tarzan illustrations graced paperback covers of Tarzan Ace paperbacks in the 1960s. Impressive art shows scene of Tarzan with 15 apes, (3 of which carry clubs) performing The Dum-Dum Dance, which is similar to a war dance. Art has been signed in Frazetta's distinctive last name signature with added "92" date. Two minor 1/8" areas of staining at bottom of art, one at center under ape's feet, other on ape's arm at left. Art still displays Exc. Fantastic scene. Only a few pieces were done by Frazetta for this unrealized publication, this being by far the best.
