8x10” stationery with 3 folds. Body of letter in another’s hand, but with one ink correction by him as well as his signature “L.P. Morton.” Text reads “Rhinebeck, N.Y./July 5/88” and continues “My Dear Sir, Many Thanks For Your Congratulations And Good Wishes Which, But For A Heavy Press Of Correspondence Would Have Been Acknowledged Earlier. Mrs. Hartpence Is Very Well And Is Spending The Summer At Greenfield, Conn. (corrected in Morton’s hand ‘Mass’) With Her Daughter Lucy. With Kind Regards, Very Truly Yours, L.P.
