Temperatures reached 110 degrees and it was reported that the fighters were both blinded by sun stroke for several days after the fight. This 20-round battle, promoted by Jack Dempsey was to be Baer’s last defeat until his stunning loss to Jimmy Braddock, 5 years later. Interesting to note the huge crowd and sea of white summer mens’ hats. The black man near the ring wears a white shirt with a sign on the back reading “Ice Cream 10¢.” Image has three 1.25" emulsion cracks along bottom margin, 9.5" vertical crack appears 4" from left end.
