Item Description
5.75x8.25”. Babe Ruth’s storied life ended August 16, 1948. Prior to this in 1947, fans honored him on April 27th which was declared Babe Ruth Day for every organized baseball league in the US. The back of this photo has info in pencil (in Spanish) with date of 1947. Most likely related to this event as photo shows him in New York uniform tipping hat, holding bats as an excited crowd cheers him. Also marked on reverse “Associated Press Photo.” Some surface paper traces on reverse and lt. handling wear. Glossy and Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
