Item Description
Lot of 12. c. 1930s. Typically 4” to 5.5” tall by 3.5” wide. Printed by the American Tobacco Co. Inc. in conjunction with Lucky Strike cigarettes. Die-cut place cards are designed with caricature bodies and photo illustration of movie star heads. All are shown with “Lucky Strike” logo and many have cigarette in hand. Stars include: William Boyd, John Boles, Jack Holt (tiny tape on back), Loretta Young, Raymond Hackett, Dorothy Sebastian, Lloyd Hughes, Dorothy Mackaill, Barbara Kent (tiny crease at top), Laura LaPlante, Glenn Tryon, Jack Mulhall, Lina Basquette, June Clyde, Alice White (bump on top) and James Gleason. Cards are designed to bend easel’s back and have Lucky Strike cigarettes inserted in holes at feet and openings above. Match sticks were designed to be fit under arms of actors as canes. All are bright and clean. Unless o/w noted, reverses have only lt. handling wear. Few have been bent as intended but unused. Overall Fine/VF. Largest group of these we have ever offered.
