Item Description
Lot of four. 6.75x9.5” pen and ink illustrations. c. early 1930s. Each signed by Campbell. Lansing “Lang” Campbell was the artist of “Uncle Wiggily’s Adventures,” which started in 1910 and was written by Howard R. Garis. In the early 1930s, Campbell created a few strips of his own: Piggy Pigtail, Paddy the Pup, Dippy Doodlebug, Busy Izzy Humbug, The Dinky Ducklings, Duck and Applesauce and Dicky Bird’s Diary. These 4 illustrations have penciled lettering on top of each reading “Dicky Bird’s Diary.” Below each illustration is text starting with a day of the week. Represented here are Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday. Two have pencil notation by text. Each has pencil notation on back with Lang Campbell’s address in New Jersey. Clean, bright original art.
