Item Description
The Habana Club was one of the oldest and most distinguished baseball teams in the Old Cuban League which existed from 1878-1971. Habana, representing the city of Havana was the only team to play in the league every season of its existence and was one of the most successful franchises. In their early history they were known by their colors as the Reds. Later, they adopted the name of Leones or Lions. This uniform is c. 1950s. Flannel and cotton jersey has manufacturer’s label sewn within the collar and reads “Mundial Sport/Concordia 13 Habana.” “H” logo patch sewn to the left breast. Sewn on left sleeve is lion’s head patch. Number “31” sewn to the back. Button-down front, all 5 buttons intact. Sleeves have scattered spotting. Jersey has all-over aging of the flannel, some small stains, few small holes. Matching flannel pants feature a 4-button fly, 5 belt hoops and 2 back pockets with button flaps. Well worn with small holes and a number of tears repaired at knees. Moderate scattered soiling. Also included are well-worn/aged pair of wool stirrup socks. Overall Good/VG but still very displayable as is. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
