Item Description
Lot of 6 items all relating to cartoonist and writer Ted Key’s best known creation “Hazel." Hazel was the long-running cartoon about a wry and bossy household maid and was a regular feature in the Saturday Evening Post as well as newspaper syndication by King Features Syndicate. It also became a television show starring Shirley Booth that ran from 1961 to 1965. First and foremost is large 11x17” specialty art done in black felt tip pen by Ted Key and presented to Shirley Booth. Great large full figure image of Hazel with text that reads in full “Love That Shirley! With Best Wishes To Shirley From Hazel & Ted Key May 30, 1965.” Sheet shows lt. aging and has been framed but art remains Exc. Lot includes 3 first edition hardcover books with dust jackets which are: Hazel 1946, If You Like Hazel 1952 and All Hazel 1958. Each is filled with classic Hazel cartoons. Scattered wear to dust jackets which are VG to Fine while books are VF/Exc. Final 2 items are 7x9” theater program for production of “Miss Isabel” that featured Shirley Booth on the cover and cover has been signed by her in blue ink as well as a 1953 issue of Time Magazine featuring her on the front cover. Both show wear, program has trimmed top and bottom margins plus aging. These 2 publications are VG. Nice group.
