Done in 1990 as one of 100 similar pieces of art from a series called “Absolut Fun!” a series inspired by the Absolut Vodka ad campaign of the late 1980s-1990s. While Absolut declined use of these characters due to the cost involved in securing the individual character rights, this piece nicely highlights the 100th anniversary of The Yellow Kid character. Nice large image of Yellow Kid with his yellow shirt reading “Say! I Is One Hundred Years Old This Here Year! See!” Yambar has signed in silver paint pen “Happy Birthday Yellow Kid! XXOO Chris Yambar - 1995.” “Absolut” name appears at top as paste-on letters. Exc. Great image.
