Item Description
1.75” white metal designed by “Davis” and struck at “Birm.” (Birmingham). One side portrays kneeling slave in chains with text surrounding and below “Am I Not A Man And A Brother/A Voice From Great Britain To America 1834.” Other side has full figure slave released from his chains. Small building and palm trees in bkg. Reads around and below “This Is The Lord’s Doing; It Is Marvellous In Our Eyes. Psalm 118 V. 23/Jubilee Augt. 1 1834.” Some very tiny rub marks on the rim edges. Small spot .25x.5” on side with kneeling slave without silver finish but vast majority of silvering remains intact. Very st. flattening of the features in highest relief on the full figure image of the freed slave. Fine.
