Item Description
c. 1915. 12.25x17” cardboard mount has 11x14” photo in center with printed signature of photographer S. Gardner, 131 West 116th St. at lower left. Photo shows 2 chiefs sitting in large, most likely specially built car which has Ford emblem inscription on radiator front. Car has dual set of headlights and brass bell. Before printing photo photographer scratched out name on sign of grocery store in background on the negative to focus attention on main image of chiefs. Mat has flaking with masking tape applied to help control. Good. Image is a bit yellowed with age. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
