3 items. First program is 7x11” with stiff paper cover and 4 inside pages. Titled on front “1939 Pennant Winners.” Centerfold has team listings for Albany vs. Scranton. Bottom half of program has lt. age rippling. Trace of lt. cover dust soil, lower right side of front cover and first inside page have .5” moisture mark at right margin edge. VG/Fine. Second program is 7-3/8x11.25”. Three-page stiff paper folder for “Governor’s Cup Series.” Front cover is signed in ink by 22-member team including players, manager, trainer and mascot just below their photos. Scorecard has rosters for Scranton and Williamsport. Trace of lt. cover dust soil, tiny bit of edge wear. Fine. Third item is 8.5x11” type-written letter signed in ink “Joe” dated September 25, 1939 on “Scranton Electric City Baseball Club, Inc. Eastern League” letterhead which has nice art of batter swinging. Text includes “Dear Tony: Please Sign Both Of The Enclosed And Return To This Office Immediately. With All Good Wishes I Am Very Truly Yours Joe.” Possibly refers to a player’s contract. Two horizontal folds through center as mailed. VF. Interesting group. The Scranton Red Sox were a minor league baseball team that played from 1939 to 1943 and from 1946 to 1951 in the Eastern League. They were league champs in 1939. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
