Item Description
8x11.25” softcover with 48 well-illustrated pages published July 4, 1913. Detailed history of the club organized in 1865 by Col. Henry Harshaw, named after the popular principal of Oshkosh High School, Arthur Everett. The Everetts represented Oshkosh in amateur club matches until 1872. Baseball became popular in the 1870s as amateur and professional teams formed across the nation. Oshkosh fielded its first professional team in 1887, joining Milwaukee, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Duluth and Des Moines in the Northwestern League. Numerous photos include “Wisconsin State League” between 1905 and 1907 and Wisconsin-Illinois League became 1908 and 1911. Another page devoted to “The 1913 Indians” and manager Killian. One page is devoted to Oshkosh graduate Albert J. Dolan, known as Cozy who was signed to the Philadelphia Nationals major league team. Another page lists players who went on to make their mark in the big leagues. Covers have lt. handling creases. Fine. First inside blank page has owner’s ink stamped addresses at top. Second inside blank page has penciled numbers at top. A few pages have lt. corner creases but overall contents VF/Exc. High quality printing by Castle-Pierce Co. Oshkosh.
