Item Description
7 7/8x9 5/8" high quality matte finish photo has wonderful image of Babe Ruth sitting and Lou Gehrig standing behind him along with 13 other players in uniforms wearing jackets which have “All Americans” patch. Photo includes umpire and Japanese dignitaries and image area includes American and Japanese flags crossed at top. Lower right has photographer raised imprint “T. Otake”. The tour was organized by Connie Mack for an 18 game match-up against the Big-Six University League. The major league All-Stars League team included Eric McNair, Charlie Gehringer, Jimmie Foxx, Earl Averill, Bing Miller, Moe Berg, Frankie Hayes, Lefty Gomez, Earl Whitehill, Clint Brown, Joe Cascarella, and Harold "Rabbit" Warstler along with Ruth and Gehrig. The Americans won all 18 games and Babe Ruth hit 13 home runs. Photo has tiny margin trim from original 8" size and upper right corner tip has tiny crease but this in no way distracts or takes away from the superb, crisp clear high quality image which is still Exc. Rare. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
