Item Description
8.75x12-5/8" high quality embossed leatherette photo album bound together with tasseled string at left side has applied chrome plated letters to form album text on cover. Album features 19 original photographs taken during the tour with subjects including Joe DiMaggio batting, US and Japanese team images, Japanese stadium views, O’Doul/DiMaggio images and various game action photos. First photo in book shows DiMaggio swinging bat inset against birdseye view of stadium crowd. Six pages have applied type-written paper caption at bottom. Major League players on the tour included DiMaggio, Mel Parnell, Ferris Fain, Billy Martin and Ed Lopat. DiMaggio is clearly shown in five photos. The US took 13 of 15 decisions from the Japanese stars. Album corners are a bit worn, first inside photo with Joe DiMaggio swinging bat has archival tape repair at lower left, otherwise album is Exc. Extremely limited and well-done. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
