Item Description
c. 1940s-1950s. Each is 22.5" to 24.75" wide. Earliest pennant has felt "Habana" text stitched on front, second has large art image of lion carrying crown which signifies a championship year, and third has art image of lion between large letter "H" and crossed bats and ball symbol. All have trace of lt. wear but group is overall Fine/VF. The Habana club was one of the oldest and most distinguished baseball teams in the old Cuban League which lasted from 1878 to 1961. Habana, representing the city of Havana was the only team to play in the league every season of its existence and was one of the most successful franchises. In their early history they were known by their colors as The Reds. Later they adopted the name of Leones or Lions. In the 74 championships in which they participated they won 30. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
