Item Description
Regrettably what was once suspended from a loop at the bottom of this 5" tall ribbon badge is missing but what remains is in Exc. condition. Brass bar pin has celluloid insert with "Delegate" title. Silver lettering on blue fabric reads "Eleventh Annual Convention Western Federation Of Miners. Denver, Colo. May 1903." The group was noted for its militancy with one of the most famous struggles occurring in the Cripple Creek district in 1903 (the year of this ribbon) continuing into 1904 and being know as the Colorado Labor Wars. Reverse has paper label we've not seen before with union bug and "O'Callahan/8th & Sansom, Phila." What remains in N. Mint, displaying Mint. See next related rare button for William Haywood.
