Item Description
c. 1920's. 14.25x17-3/8" wood frame has four panel woodcut showing happy man smoking walking down street, w/two boxes stencilled "Drugs" and "Opium", winding up in prison cell, smoking, with last panel showing his coffin with skull and crossbones. Has text at bottom "Engraved By John Held Jr." Bottom right corner has pencil signature "Mrs. John Held Jr. '64." Bottom blank margin edge has a few moisture marks but main image area is Exc. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
